Pensioners caught on the double by eircom

ARE Eircom profiting nicely at the expense of pensioners? I wonder how many pensioners who have free telephone rental examined their recent phone bill.

There is a different layout to the account which tends to disguise the fact that the full social welfare benefit allowance rental is not quite what it should be.

I queried this and was told that the fee had increased by €1 (plus VAT, of course) and that the Department of Social Welfare was not paying this increase - which they admitted to be rental when pressed. Now surely this is short of what the minister for finance gave in his budget.
