Every which way but the right way

THE only way you can follow Irish road signs is if you actually know where you are going in the first place. The erratic signposting system is driving tourists and Irish people around the bend.

Every which way but the right way

Many road signs are inaccurate, don’t give adequate notice of upcoming junctions or turn-off points, or don’t follow any proper continuity. And it is rubbing our tourists’ noses up the wrong way.

The Irish economy depends hugely on tourism to bring revenue into the country and a blase attitude by those responsible for the nation’s roads is not good enough. Enough money is pumped into our road infrastructure, so surely it would be easy to erect proper directional signposting.
