Sport milestones passed: An inspiring trio
In recent days, three Irish sportswomen passed significant milestones in their careers.

Olympic gold medal boxer Katie Taylor unified world professional lightweight titles in New York when she defeated Argentina’s Victoria Bustos in a unanimous points decision on Saturday night. Taylor, in her ninth professional bout, took the IBF lightweight title, to add to the WBA belt she secured in Cardiff last October.
Amateur jockey and Cheltenham winner Nina Carbery
announced her retirement from racing after riding Josies Orders to victory at Punchestown on Saturday. Her
announcement came a day after weighing-room rival and sister-in-law Katie Walsh revealed she was also quitting the track. Carberry has been one of the top riders in the amateur ranks for well over a decade. The 33-year-old rode seven festival winners and took the 2011 Irish Grand National.
This inspiring trio proved that the glass ceiling exists only if you acknowledge it. Congratulations, congratulations, and congratulations.
