All of this is found in microcosm in every employment. But uniquely in politics, the who’s-in, who’s out, who lost-out, is played out in the glare of intense media speculation in advance and then enacted live on television in the Dáil chamber. Every facial muscle of the appointed, and the disappointed is freeze framed the better to become the picture telling a thousand words.
