Withdrawn ESRI paper’s conclusions were nothing new

The ESRI thinktank may have pulled its latest working paper on the benefits of not working but its main conclusions are not new.

The headline figures, and the assumptions used to arrive at certain percentages, were novel and based on a different method of analysing the cost of living.

But the ESRI has warned long before this that when non-cash benefits of welfare-reliant lifestyles are factored in, the attractiveness of working for lower salaries diminishes.
