A week of tarnished reputations. And some enhanced ones too. And a week, hopefully, when real battle lines were drawn up around the issues that matter.

I wrote here last week that our new Government had done itself no favours with a weak programme for government. It was hard to find a single worthwhile specific in the entire document, and I could find nothing at all capable of lighting a spark of inspiration.
