Michael Moynihan: Make an effort to be seen at night to avoid danger in the darkness

Take up position at any random point on a public road in Cork and in five minutes watching cars go past you’ll see plenty of people on their phones.
Stop me if you think you’ve heard this one before, as Morrissey said many years ago.
Out and about, taking a stroll after the tea, when something looms from the gloom — a cyclist, a jogger, a very fast pedestrian — and zooms past you. No warning ahead of time, just a ghostly shape that appeared without a sound, and then proceeded to vanish again, zipping into the mist.
