Making a claim - Collapse of Lowcostholidays

FOR an unspecified number of the estimated 15,000 Irish people who booked their holiday in the sun through the collapsed Lowcostholidays group, the chances of getting their money back could depend on them making a claim. For some, however, it could prove to be an unmitigated disaster.

Making a claim - Collapse of Lowcostholidays

According to the advice given by David Hodnett, legal director of the Commission for Aviation Regulation, people whose claims are not honoured by the company and have not yet travelled are entitled to make a claim to the commission, which only found out about the collapse late on Friday. He promised the commission would cover claims for those now abroad who find they have to pay twice for accommodation.

Regrettably, there is every likelihood that having booked their holiday in February, they will now be charged high season fees and it is unclear if the commission will make up the difference. Nevertheless, the alacrity of the commission’s reassurance is commendable. Following Ireland’s long, cold, and wet winter it is the sort of news people in shock will have wanted to hear.
