We look set to have the ‘Smarty party’ in power

The one shibboleth that stuck in our craw in this election was the exhortation to “keep the recovery going”. 

The reaction of most was ‘recovery? What recovery?’ Why has this recovery not yet filtered down to us? There is meat and drink in that question.

The casualties will stumble from the field hospitals to the recovery ward. Universal tolerance may break out and a compromise be found. Let those for whom we voted get on with running the country. It may require a motley crew. We could call them “the Smarty Party”.
