Arts Council should not fund political stunts

I note that the “Renunciation” reading events by artists and others (Irish Examiner, February 2nd), which took place on St. Bridget’s Day was funded by the Arts Council “Artist in the Community” Scheme.

Why is the Arts Council funding something which essentially amounts to a publicity stunt for the repeal of the Eighth Amendment?
