Restraint has to be used

I refer to an article which dealt with the findings of a HIQA nursing home inspection (Irish Examiner, January 28 ).
Restraint has to be used

What was not made clear was this type of inspection is carried out to award registration of a care facility, thus permitting its operation.

Registration was awarded to the home as a result.

Perhaps time could have been better spent reporting on another facility where registration was not awarded as a result of a HIQA report.

As for the headline “Cork nursing home used chemical restraints” I would see it as a challenge for anybody to find a nursing home that has not had to, at some point, resort to this often controversial practice to ensure resident and staff safety.
