We need to renationalise telecommunications

On December 9, I reported my parents phone line not working. They are in their 70s and living in a fairly rural area.

We need to renationalise telecommunications

All calls made to Eir were promised a return phonecall which never materialised.

It is now January and the latest date for repair is the 14th and this is subject to change. The original repair date wa December 31.

Christmas is a time of communication and this was lost to my parents. God forbid that they have a medical emergency as their mobile signal is patchy at best.

Eir wasted €16 million rebranding. if they had any serious intention of becoming a better company the money should have been spent on repairing infrastructure rather than dropping three letters.

Half the name not even half the service.

This monopoly is dangerous and no government quango has power over Eir.

Its time that the operation of phone line infrastructure is renationalised.
