Dublin needs water from Shannon as regional development is ignored

Presenter Chris O’Donoghue suggested that Limerick had more water than it could use. But he failed to understand that this issue goes beyond Limerick and the many groups whose livelihoods depend on the Shannon.

The people of Limerick have no argument with the people of Dublin, but they do condemn the failure of successive governments who continue to centralise development in Dublin with no plan to accommodate this.

The overdevelopment of our capital is being executed without attention to the other citiesand large towns in Ireland. It is this neglect which the people of the regions are angry about.
