I see that Victoria White and your newspaper (Irish Examiner, September 24), condone carelessness in the application of the law, in their effort to attack the right of the people of Ireland to retain their bilingual status.

Yes, we need breathalyser results in Irish too

It is quite clear in the original legislation regarding those tested for blood alcohol, that the form to be used should be bilingual and it was gross carelessness of (or deliberate neglect by) the issuing authority to conform with the law that led to the striking down of the prosecution.

Instead of an outcry against the use of the Irish language, there should be a demand that disciplinary proceedings be taken against those who failed to apply the law as promulgated.
