No difference between the Fenians and the IRA

The Irish Examiner has devoted much space this year to Jeremiah O’Donovan Rossa.

No difference between the Fenians and the IRA

But one thing puzzles some readers. How come the Fenians are patriots and the IRA are terrorists? (According to today’s media and mainstream politicians).

Jeremiah and 1916 leader, Tom Clarke, were ringleaders in the bombing campaign that rocked England for nearly half a decade.

Military barracks, police stations, gasworks, train stations, politicians’ homes, bridges, the House of Commons, and the Tower of London were all targeted. New Scotland Yard is so-called because Irish extremists blew the original building to smithereens.

Many men, women and children must have been killed and maimed.

The only difference between the bombs that exploded around England in the 1880s and the 1980s is that dynamite was used in the former and semtex was used in the latter.
