Poor broadband lets tourism industry down

It is great that tourists find Ireland value for money (Irish Examiner, April 14), but the poor availability of wi-fi lets them down.

Today, I have spent a frustrating time travelling around Co Kilkenny, seeking wi-fi that works. One cafe/bistro I visited boasted wi-fi, but the staff didn’t know the correct password. In another place, reception was such that they had no broadband at all.

You can have Apple, Microsoft, Google, and other big IT names located in Ireland, but it is an embarrassment for the country, and an inconvenience for its visitors, if there is not adequate internet connectability.
