People of Limerick have cleaned the city for all

The tremendous response to the Team Limerick Clean Up is evidence of the importance that the city’s citizens attach to a clean environment. As Irish Business Against Litter (IBAL) surveys show, our cities are more littered than our towns.

People of Limerick have cleaned the city for all

Volunteerism is an essential antidote to litter, but for it to be sustainable it must be married to appropriate cleaning systems, enforcement and infrastructure, which are the responsibility of the city council.

This needs to be undertaken for all areas of the city, not just those which attract footfall from tourism and business — indeed, the more disadvantaged areas of Limerick will be a particular focus of our surveys this year.

We look forward to the city reaping the rewards of the commitment of citizens and council alike.
