Drink research flawed

“There would be almost 200 fewer alcohol-related deaths every year with the introduction of a minimum alcohol price of €1 per unit,” according to the Sheffield University Alcohol Research Group.

How is that quantifiable? About 28,000 die each year due to natural causes and this can vary year-on-year by 500/600.

They claim their research is accurate but will time and reality prove it? The researchers go on to predict 5,900 fewer hospital admissions, but what if they are wrong?

A low risk drinker might consume five drinks a week and if this research does convince our policy-makers to do its bidding, then responsible low-risk drinkers will be forced to pay out an extra €250 a year because of them.
