Nimoy will live long and prosper in our hearts
People of a certain generation remember him playing the role of Doctor Spock in the 1960’s TV sci-fi series Star Trek. We often identify with characters in films because we see parts of ourselves in a particular role.
In Spock’s case people identified with his half Vulcan, half human role in which there often seemed to be a conflict between his human side which would have given his emotions free reign and his Vulcan logical side.
This is a conflict we all deal with in life as we strive to “live long and prosper,” in other words realize our full potential. I suspect Leonard Nimoy had achieved this in being an actor, director, poet and photographer. He led a “fascinating” life. His last tweet days before he died, issued I’m sure in the knowledge he hadn’t long left to live contains considerable insight.
He tweeted “a life is like a garden. Perfect moments can be had, but not preserved, except in memory.” He had his perfect moments and gave his legions of fans perfect moments all over the world.
