Central Bank will put cost to the forefront

I refer to your editorial (December 2) containing the suggestion that the Central Bank’s new headquarters building could cost twice as much as a new build. 

Contrary to the thrust of your comment our internal cost estimates indicate the costs will be in line with construction industry norms for similar buildings.

With the tender process in train for the main contract, we are obviously not currently in a position to give a precise figure for the overall cost or to comment on the speculative figures which you have mentioned.

We would like your readers to know that cost effectiveness is to the fore in all our plans for this important project.
