We could save money by ending flouridation

More struggling families are facing the frightening crisis of homelessness because of unaffordable rents and mortgages. Meanwhile, huge sums are being splashed about on the fiasco that is Irish Water. Further millions are spent on the increasingly controversial practice of dumping fluoride into our drinking water supplies and paying the salaries of the so-called “Irish Expert Body on Fluorides and Health”.

It is clear to anyone who cares to read the research that fluoride is a poison and anyway the most effective way to use it for dental purposes is by using a fluoridated toothpaste. I suggest that, as part of an exercise in economic and welfare prioritisation, we discontinue both water metering and forced fluoridation and divert the saved millions into the provision of essential accommodation for those who urgently need it.
