Devil only has power if we choose to listen to him

Frank Whelan says it’s obvious to blame God for the devil, because God allows Satan to exist (Irish Examiner letters, October 13). This is the same argument as to why God does not destroy bad people, and why he allows bad things to happen.

Were he to do that, none of us would be safe, as none of us are as perfect as we’d like to think.

His gift of free will is a demonstration of his love of us: he does not want us as slaves.
