Ignoring Presley

It really upsets me when I drive on the M8 motorway and see the sign ancestral home of Barack Obama and all the hype and publicity it gets — even our Taoiseach dropped in on July 4 to visit a new complex which opened up recently, and yet here we are a year later and no mention of Hacketstown, Co Carlow, birth place of William Presley great, great, great grandfather to the King of Rock ‘n Roll.

Ignoring Presley

It really hurts not only that Corkonian David McCarty made contact with Elvis Presley Enterprises and sent emails, but they still have not acknowledged our quest to put up a plaque to honour this fact. Maybe if he were a president every TD and councillor, would jump at the chance to make their wishes known.

Maybe we should put up the plaque in Hacketstown regardless of what the big shots say in Memphis. I would love to know what your readers think.
