Russia bore the brunt of suffering fighting Germans

I wish to bring some historical perspective to the hype of the D Day invasion:

Russia bore the brunt of suffering fighting Germans

1) It took place towards the end of the Second World War, on June 6, 1944.

2) From June 22, 1941, i.e. the start of operation Barbarossa, until the end of the war, on May 8, 1945, the strength of the German army in the eastern front, was never less than two thirds.

3) The German Army fought their last offensive battle in the eastern front, the battle of Kursk. It started on July 5, 1943. It was the largest tank battle in history, 7,500 tanks. The Germans were decisively beaten and began a retreat that culminated in their surrender in 1945.

4) Therefore, the Americans and the British were fighting one third of an already defeated army.

5) The Americans, since the election of president Harry Truman, on April 12, 1945, have airbrushed Russia (USSR, to include the satellite states) out of the war. There is one exception to this statement, that is the speech given by senator John F Kennedy in 1960. He described the destruction suffered by Russia as the equivalent of the USA being destroyed west of Chicago.

6) 26 million Soviet citizens were killed in the war. Contrast that with the 406,000 Americans killed.

America, with the exception of Pearl Harbour, did not suffer any destruction to its country.
