Your editorial (May 13) on the reception afforded to Donald Trump on arrival at Shannon Airport is very much to the point.

Watching the arrival on the news the thoughts running through my mind were: “insulting, humiliating, degrading to the people of Ireland”. The subservience demonstrated by our minister for finance goes a long way to explain why the Irish people are facing so many financial difficulties. Our politicians grovel to investors and European politicians (remember the president of France rubbing the back of Enda’s head?).
