Cynicism and insincerity the hallmarks of Fianna Fáil
They recklessly bankrupted this country by creating a casino economy with the primary goal of enriching themselves and their friends in the golden circle.
They behaved with an almost aristocratic sense of superiority and entitlement, showing arrogant contempt for any notion of accountability or transparency in public life.
For 14 years their current leader Mícheál Martin sat at the cabinet table as this machine of self-enrichment and corruption destroyed the social fabric and economic future of our country.
The current policies of austerity, bank bailouts, urban decay and rural decimation are both a direct result of and a direct continuation of Fianna Fáil’s policies in government.
This is a party which was guilty of gross negligence and incompetence at best, criminality and economic treason at worst. They remain unrepentant, unreformed and motivated purely by a return to power.
They have nothing to offer the Irish people. As a party they have utterly failed to recognise the extent of their own endemic corruption or to acknowledge responsibility for the havoc and destruction they have brought on the ordinary working people of Ireland. Sadly, they continue to appeal to historic and local allegiances over the national interest.
Yet the only consistent qualities the party demonstrates are the cynicism, cunning and insincerity so ably displayed by their leader Micheál Martin.
It will take a long time for the people to trust our political process again.
Despite their relentless promotion by the national media and recent showings in dubious political polls, it will take even longer for discerning voters to trust Fianna Fáil again.
