The story of my left foot and a kindly stranger

While out on my morning “jog” with my four legged jogging partner Monty, (neighbour’s dog), I recently had a problem with my running shoe.

The story of my left foot and a kindly stranger

These shoes, while just introduced and never worn previously, are many years old and could possibly have been stored in warm climates when working abroad. After a little more than two miles, the uppers parted from the sole. So I removed the shoe (and sock, as it was also new).

There we were making our way up Maryborough Hill wearing one shoe the other in my hard and one bare foot, when a very kind lady stopped and asked if she could help.

I looked at the lady’s car and felt it would be unreasonable to put a very wet Monty inside, so I thanked her and we continued on our way.

I was beginning to feel I should have accepted the lady’s offer, loose pebbles were having an effect on “my left foot” when a young man pulled up in a large van and insisted we both get in.

This young man Brian McCarthy was on his way to college but insisted on driving me to my home.

So “thank you” Brian for your act of consideration to a very grateful pensioner.
