Hydro-electric option

I am writing to you to ask why we do not have hydro-electric plants up and running around the country?

We are almost floating on water at this stage and there is no shortage of natural land masses to operate these plants. To be exact, an engineer declared 50-plus land sites that could facilitate these eco-friendly energy producers.

We can build many windmills to drain the lands of Ireland to an acceptable level with plenty of wind to drive turbines to pump water up to reservoirs. Why are these employment creators not proposed by now and in operation?
