Irish Water consultants

While all and sundry are weighing in with alarm and disgust at the disclosure by Irish Water that it paid €50m to date on consultant fees — is it not worth noting that those so commenting on the issue are in the main virtually silent on the fact that a similar sum is expended annually on the free legal aid scheme?

At least the citizens of this land can expect a ‘return’ on the water expenditure down the line — sadly, a similar expenditure on the free legal aid scheme on people who deliberately break the law of this land and who expect their ‘victims’ to contribute towards their legal defence will not have any return for the citizens of this fair land.

And yet, as stated, the people who are hot under the collar on the water issue apparently see nothing wrong on the free legal aid fiasco which occurs on an ongoing annual basis.
