Spending a penny in Cork proves difficult
I discovered that the ‘Ladies’ in Merchants Quay centre is under renovation. I tried Debenhams — absolutely jam packed.
I was en route to St Peter & Paul’s Church to 12.30 Mass when I spotted a bar and went in and asked if I could use the facilities. I was told no, the floor is wet, it’s not available.
I wonder where their customers went?!
Amazing — but as I said to the ‘gentleman’ inside the counter — ‘Welcome to Cork. Next time I & shall stay on the train to Dublin.’
I was not shabbily dressed, I assure you. It is the first time that I have been refused entry to an establishment. I shall pass on the word — take the train to Dublin or, better still, stay in Limerick.
