Don’t use Seanad vote as tantrum against Enda

The media coverage of the Seanad debate amounts to: forget about the issues involved in the abolition of the Seanad.

Those issues have been around since independence and nobody in the political class, media, or electorate lost any sleep about them. We have another 90 years to talk about ‘reform’.

Anyway, the Government is ‘cynical’. It is enforcing austerity, etc.

So let’s just use the referendum to give the Government a collective kick in the behind.

That would also show what we think of that jumped-up school teacher from Mayo, who heads up the Government as Taoiseach.

A prominent, self-appointed guru, and member of a media who failed to warn us about the bankrupting of the country, summed-up the attitude well when he advised us to ‘bring back’ the previous government.

The media message seems to be that it will show our maturity as an electorate if we use the referendum about the Seanad to get our annoyance with the Government off our chest.
