Clifford irresponsible

Michael Clifford’s ‘let’s get rid of the Dáil’ as well as the Seanad catchcry is irresponsible (Sept 14).

We might think the people we elect leave a lot to be desired, but they were put in their positions of power by free elections where the press were free to criticise.

A high proportion of the world’s people have neither the right to vote nor freedom of the press. The example of Syria, North Korea etc tell us what the alternatives are if we take democracy for granted.
