Tired of arguments in favour of Senate retention

Permit me to express an opinion on the upcoming Senate referendum.

Tired of arguments in favour of Senate retention

The issue has not exactly gripped the nation, but I have & read enough ridiculous arguments in favour of its retention. Do your readers believe there is a need for the Senate? Do they realise how undemocratic it is, and how ineffective? Less than 1% of the population of this country elected the Senate’s misfits, ‘has beens’ and ‘wannabees’.

We are told its only power is to delay the passage of legislation to the statute books. The last time it exercised this right was in the 1960s. We don’t need it. It is elitist and pointless. It serves no useful purpose other than providing ‘jobs for the boys’ (and the girls). It is a waste of taxpayers’ money.

Close it down.
