The anti-austerity bandwagon in full swing

The Government is borrowing €1bn every month to keep the public services going.

Experts tell us that the national debt has nearly tripled since the crisis began, is now over 100% of GDP, and rising fast. All of that borrowing will have to be paid back, by this and future generations.

Despite that, the anti-austerity bandwagon is in full swing. As part of that bandwagon, we have a combination of government politicians and opposition politicians.

Included among the latter are politicians who were members of government during the Celtic Tiger period, and who voted decisions through the Dáil that bankrupted the country.

Meanwhile, this anti-austerity bandwagon is being cheer-led by the same media that formerly cheer-led the decisions that bankrupted the country during the Celtic tiger era.

Hypocrisy is too mild a word.
