In its decision to compel ISPs to block the Pirate Bay website, the High Court has put the imaginary losses of music companies in front of the concrete jobs provided by the IT sector in this country.

When the music died

Ireland has built a vibrant IT and telecommunications industry. Its success has been in spite of almost total government apathy and is a result of our educated workforce, but importantly, because of our open and uncensored internet access. With effort, Ireland still has a real chance to be a world leader in the IT industry. We should not throw this away because a few teenagers are downloading pop music.
