The issue of risk to a pregnant mother’s life is key to the abortion debate.

The threat of suicide does, indeed, put a mother’s life at risk. This does not mean abortion is the solution to that risk.

In contrast to management of obstetric complications, there is no evidence that terminating pregnancy benefits suicidal mothers.
