Ireland needs achievers in government

To dream or not to dream. Because of the recent poor performance of Labour in recent opinion polls, the paid-up members of the Labour party are now saying they do not now know what Labour stands for.

Ireland needs achievers in government

Despite the promises made in the last general election campaign, realisation has dawned on them that is Frankfurt’s way, rather than Labour’s way.

The grassroots supporters have doubts about the current leadership of Eamon Gilmore. In addition they do not want to listen to the wisdom of the two previous leaders, nor listen to the communication of the other Labour ministers in government.

To canvass on the doorsteps and explain that the goodies are no longer available due to the policies of the previous government is too much work to explain. Far better to seek alternative choices and bring this message to the voters.

To order smoke salmon sandwiches for their meetings and dream up alternative choices to present to the voters. In essence, to abandon the responsibly of being in government.

At the next general election, Ireland does not have the luxury of electing significant number dreamers to the back benches of the Dáil who espouse utopian policies for our country.

What Ireland requires are elected achievers who are not afraid to take on the responsibly of elected office, no matter how slow the progress. Debate in the media ought to be about how best to implement the policies and principles of the European Union, albeit under Germanic guidance. After all, Ireland has voted and accepted these treaties.
