Why we shouldn’t pay banks’ debts
If you go bankrupt I take the hit. Same for everyone. Except, of course Irish banks!
Ireland has a low population and is rich in resources. We have a well educated population, well developed infrastructure, large agricultural capability, considerable fishing grounds, we are rich in natural resources.
Look at the value of our oil alone that we have in our waters. In itself, enough of a resource to allow us to become perfectly self-sufficient. Why, then, are we not self-sufficient? Because this Government is driving the taxpayer into penury and selling off those very same natural resources (which are the rightful property of the taxpayer) to pay off private debts that were in no way incurred by the State (citizens/taxpayers).
Time we did what is right. Leave this debt system and ride out the consequences of letting the private banks that gambled and lost go bust. Throw this Government out now! Let its members guarantee the private bank bondholders if they so wish and pay the debt, or let the lender take the responsibility.
This is not a debt incurred by the taxpayer. There is absolutely no reason on Earth why we should pay it.
Let us, as a sovereign nation, decide our form of government, one that will restore our sovereignty and take back our natural resources so that we become a self-sufficient nation.
We need to do it now while we still have some natural resources left.
