Why I’m rooting for trees
But I don’t think I could live happily for any length of time in a landscape without trees.
Trees are nature’s default mode. If we hadn’t come along and started destroying them five or six thousand years ago they would still dominate the land. And if we ever go away they’ll be back in a remarkably short space of time.
