Schoolgirl fight should not have been published

I would like to express my disappointment at the Irish Examiner’s decision to publish screenshots of the video of the two schoolgirls fighting in Cork.

A big deal has been made by Christ King School over their reputation being damaged by the video, but has anyone stopped to consider these two girls’ reputations? The people who recorded it did not, nor did the bystanders who did not intervene and nor did your newspaper when you chose to publish the screenshots.

Would the video have made the front page, let alone the news, if it was a video of two boys fighting?

While the behaviour in the video is of course not appropriate, surely there is no need to publicly shame the two girls for a mistake they made.

Hopefully they will both be able to come back from this mistake and your front page article will not harm their futures.
