Truth forum may answer challenge

The recent challenge to Gerry Adams TD to come clean on his past raises the spectre of never-ending allegation, claim, counter-claim, denial and obfuscation until the whole issue is reduced to an absurdity which plays directly into the hands of those totally opposed to the peace process.

Ironically, two of the North’s politicians are currently in Afghanistan to advise their government on reconciliation and reintegration, with the Taliban using the same Irish peace process as an example. The quote by the UK Ambassador Richard Stagg is instructive. About our Northern Ireland experience, he said:

“Despite some awful things happening, we have ended up with people on both sides sharing power in government. There is a message there.”
