Electorate should vote for women candidates

Jim Cosgrove takes Victoria White to task about her concern that there are so few women ‘in positions of power, particularly in politics’ (Letters, Aug 22).

For women to have more power in our democratic system of government there is certainly no need for grandiose proclamations by Jim Cosgrove for a ‘a re-assertion of independence from the global marketeering mentality and dog-eat-dog competitive mantras’.

All it needs is for the electorate to vote for the increased number of women candidates at the next election.
