Catholic silence leading to Eucharist famine

Pope John Paul II taught that the Eucharist stands at the centre of the Church’s life.

Catholic silence leading to Eucharist famine

We Irish Catholics agree that the Mass and communal celebration of the Lord’s Supper is a rich feast which nourishes and enriches us as we journey together in an exodus towards the Promised Land. Tragically, there is a growing Eucharistic famine for Catholic people worldwide due to the shortage of male heterosexuals who are willing to consent to enforced celibacy.

The artificial shortage of priests is largely caused by the refusal of the Roman control group in our Catholic Church to affirm the priestly vocations of countless women and men, married and single. Unfortunately, we lay Catholics are colluding in that denial of Eucharist by our silence, sheepish deference, and inaction.
