Planning will ensure town’s future

Further to my recent visits to Cobh during the Titanic celebrations, I wish to convey my congratulations to the Titanic 100 crew and volunteers, for their hard work in putting on a wonderful show of Cobh.

It goes to show if you make the effort, you will get the support and they sure did.

Being a native of Cobh I witnessed one of the largest crowds present for the celebrations, especially for the guard of honour by our superb president Michael D Higgins and the resounding speeches which followed. Cobh is unique in that it has such a large beautiful harbour, the fundamental for any tourist industry. Credit must be given to those who developed Cobh to what it is today.

But it is time to invest again to develop and maintain it further. Parking is one of the biggest problems along with facilities for boating. If these are developed, everything else will follow.
