Not enough tax to fund health

I refer to a number of letters which were recently published in the Irish Examiner, in particular the letter from Barry Fitzgerald and Kathy Sinnott.

Not enough tax to fund health

The impression given in these letters is that every euro of tax collected is going towards the repayment of the bond holders and bank debt.

What these writers fail to recognise is that in 2011 the Government spent more on the provision of health care than what was collected in income tax.
