Disabled parking rules

Maurice Fitzgerald (Letter, Apr 2) is probably not aware, but the medical eligibility criteria for disabled parking permits were actually tightened up last year.

Unfortunately, in our opinion, the rules are now too strict: the quality of life of some people with disabling conditions could be improved with a better assessment method. Mr Fitzgerald and others need to be cognisant of the fact that not all mobility impairments are visible.
