Fracking dangers are too serious to ignore

I refer to the subject of fracking for gas in Leitrim. I believe we should do what we can to protect the environment.

Most county councillors have realised what damage this process could do, yet in Leitrim it seems as though they are more concerned with money.

Studies into the effects of fracking show that the process can result in underground water contamination and air pollution from the gases released during the process.

Of course, if waste from the process was mishandled that could cause damage as well. The EPA in the US had it banned in America obviously for a reason. The reason being that it is unsafe and not worth the risk.

If the people in Leitrim go through with this, they will not only be risking damage to the environment, but also to themselves as pollution could negatively affect their lives. This unsatisfiable hunger for wealth could seriously damage life. If they really want to get the oil and gas, they should just find another, safer, way of doing so without any repercussions.
