’Fraudulent arguments’ must be exposed by media

Declan Doyle is probably right when he says that any debate on the EU treaty changes will be “peppered with terminological inexactitudes of the greatest magnitude” (Letters, Feb 2).

This will apply to both sides of the argument. This highlights the reason why the country is financially and morally bankrupt.

It is derived from the fact that the ‘big lies’ did not start with the current incumbents. Our most powerful citizens, in charge of almost all important institutions, have been indulging in terminological inexactitudes for years. I feel that we should have a referendum on this important issue. Our last state will be worse than the first, however, if the free press does not do its job in exposing fraudulent arguments from both sides.
