New faces needed

Many commentators decry the exodus of senior civil servants from their posts. Their experience, we are told, will be a great loss.

However, I would argue, that some of these ‘who cannot be replaced’ were past their sell-by date. Younger and newer faces might not only stimulate the public service but bring new ideas to the workplace. We are told that the overall effectiveness of the civil service needs to be addressed promptly. Perhaps new faces will bring this about.
