One quagno we can probably do without

In studying quangos and government bureaucracies in Ireland over the past six years I have concluded that 40% of these could be eliminated or joined with others, thereby saving the taxpayer millions of euro every year and making for a more efficient Government.

I readily admit that my research is scanty and amateur due to the complexity of quangos and bureaucracies and the difficulty for a lay person in acquiring information on each and the time and expense it takes for such research to be classified as accurate. But I put forward one government bureaucracy which by its own admission is “still finding its purpose” after 10 years in existence. That bureaucracy is The Teaching Council located in Maynooth, Co Kildare.

The Teaching Council has 28.5 staff members whose average pay is €41,704 and whose director is paid €105,429 a year. I have been unable to have the following question answered: how would the educational system in Ireland be affected with the elimination of The Teaching Council?
